Our Story

The Old Bank of Geeveston is an Art Deco heritage listed property originally constructed in 1937 as the First Commercial Bank Of Australia for the town of Geeveston when it was the height of the Tasmanian Forestry logging and fruit farming community. It later changed to a number of banking institutions and then went through a series of subsequent lives, including a Pool Hall/Saloon for a while, then a community hall for a number of years; and then stayed unoccupied for a period of time until it became altered and rezoned into a Real Estate Agency and restaurant around 17 years ago .

We the current owners, a husband + wife team completed a restoration in 2016, sympathetic to the building, respectfully naming the business The Old Bank of Geeveston upon commencing trading on the 1st June 2016.

Our emphasis is on game meats sourced mostly from local farms focusing on sustainability and governance. In 2019 we also incorporated a small curated range of homewares with the emphasis on ethical trade and local artisans. We hope that you enjoy your experience at The Old Bank of Geeveston.
